Review of “Ishq Junoon” – A Drama That Keeps You Hooked
Introduction: Literally, I’m all set, and the three of you are wearing such great brands. The clothes, hair, and makeup are all on point because we keep appearing in the show for long durations, so extra attention is given to the wardrobe, hair, and makeup. Now, let’s see how much attention is given to the drama. I’m talking about Ishq Junoon and Nadia, let’s start with you. Why are you sitting here?
“I’m sitting here because the air is better here, maybe that’s why.”
The Unexpected Twist in the Drama
Now, coming to Ishq Junoon… Forget the diary, let’s get to the point. The reason this episode stood out in the drama was because it had a great impact. The earlier scenes were more normal, and even Shahrayar Munawar’s reaction seemed cold when the car arrived at the spot where Sahil had fallen, looking like a spring roll. It was a small push, but Shuja managed to push him away and save him from falling into the ocean, though he was drunk and unable to act. It was a close call. I felt Shahrayar’s reaction was a bit neutral—like he didn’t care, almost as if the police had arrived to give him a ticket. It didn’t feel intense enough for a life-threatening moment.
But then, the episode peaked when Rasa’s ghazal came in. That scene was amazing, it was an absolute game-changer. I became a fan of hers in that moment. The scene where the mother is asking her son to let the younger one go because he’s her stepson was beautiful. Even though he is the biological son, the emotional depth she showed when begging, “Raheem, please, please,” with the variation in her voice and emotions was brilliant. That scene blew me away, I watched it two or three times. Because of that, this episode became my favorite, and also because of Jamal.
Jamal’s Performance: A Standout Moment
Jamal’s performance was excellent in this episode. His anger, the way he portrayed his concern for his so-called fiancée, was on point. His performance in the white suit with pink shirt, showing different levels of anger, was outstanding. The overall episode was great, and the direction, lighting, and performances were very impressive. I’ll give it a thumbs up.
The Story: Moving in the Right Direction
The story is progressing well, and the performances are good. The backstory that has been revealed—especially the twist about him not being the son—adds an exciting layer. I’m curious to see what will happen next, now that we know Rasa isn’t his real mother, and there’s some confusion around relationships. What’s even more interesting is that this twist makes things more complicated.
The next step will be revealing how this relationship evolves. The characters’ names sometimes slip my mind because I’m working on multiple sets right now. But I’ll stick with character names as requested.
A Request to the Production Houses
As for the drama, I think it’s being very well executed. The editing, transitions, and performances are fantastic. It’s a good watch, not painful at all. I will give it two thumbs up, a lot of fun. However, I have a request for the production houses, the channels, and everyone involved in this project: please don’t release behind-the-scenes shots during the airing of the drama. It ruins the integrity of the show. If you want to share something like that, do it after the show has ended. When you show these behind-the-scenes moments, you kill the suspense and the mood of the drama. You’re breaking the immersion, which is so crucial for a serious drama. Keep it serious or share something interesting, but don’t release these casual moments or funny behind-the-scenes shots that expose the actors’ characters. I’m asking all the production houses, channels, and actors: please stop doing this. You’re damaging your own show.
Final Thoughts on the Drama
Also, a quick mention about the character who plays the hero’s mother. I feel bad for the character, as her sons-in-law are involved in questionable behavior. She seems to be stuck in a bad situation. The writer, Sadia Akhtar, has created a very strong plot around this. The performances really brought this story to life, and the direction is simple but effective.
The only thing I’m waiting for is for Una to come back to her senses. When that happens, the story will get even better. Right now, the parents seem to be standing on shaky ground. There’s tension about the relationships, and now that the daughter has disappeared, it’s creating more drama. I think the scenes involving Rasa, Shahrayar, and the police entry were some of the best. The police officer was asking everyone about tea, which was a funny twist. It could have been a bit more interesting, but it was still amusing.
The real focus remains on the characters, especially Rasa and Shahrayar, who brought emotional depth. Overall, the drama is moving well, and I hope there are more twists coming soon. I expect the pace to pick up, but right now it’s solid. I would give it an 8 out of 10.
